Young Naturalists of Kyiv Zoo Among the Best Researchers of the Young Academy of Sciences!

👦🏆 The students of the Young Naturalists’ Club at Kyiv Zoo have won first and second place in the scientific work defense competition organized by the Young Academy of Sciences!

☝️Throughout the year, these young researchers delved into complex questions of animal welfare, combining scientific theory with practical observations.

✅ This year’s projects were dedicated to the true stars of our zoo:

💚🦍 Caring for the Legendary Tony: Hleb Romanenko presented his work titled “Analysis of the Behavioral Repertoire of the Western Lowland Gorilla Based on Continuous Observation Method.” Thanks to this research, our keepers received invaluable data that will help make Tony—the only gorilla in Ukraine—live an even more comfortable and interesting life.

💚🦎 New Activities for Bearded Dragon Sonyah: Mykhailo Zubenko dedicated his project to “Selecting Optimal Enrichment Methods for Bearded Dragons in the Zoo.” Now, the favorite of “The Good Phasmatidae” project, the bearded dragon Sonya, has even more activities to keep her cheerful.

🙏🥰 We are proud of the students in our Young Naturalists’ Club. Despite the tremendous challenges of recent years, scientific work has never ceased here. Even during the war, children maintain their thirst for knowledge and are mastering modern European standards in animal care. The annual prize-winning positions in scientific competitions confirm that it is precisely such diligent researchers who hold the future of Ukrainian science and conservation! 🇺🇦
