World Horse Day
🐴🌍🌿 On March 1st, several countries celebrate World Horse Day. Kyiv Zoo is a participant in a long-standing project aimed at restoring and conserving Przewalski’s horses in the wild in Ukraine. Thus, we also join this initiative to raise awareness about the welfare of horses.
☝️ Wild horses inhabited our lands long before the times of Kyivan Rus, until they were exterminated during the era of the Russian Empire. Thanks to the meticulous professional work of zoologists from the “Askania-Nova” Biosphere Reserve, Kyiv Zoo and other Ukrainian and foreign institutions, our beautiful friend – the Przewalski’s horse – has returned to its native habitat.
🥗 In honor of World Horse Day, this weekend we will treat our Przewalski’s horses to a special lunch.
🏞️ 🕛 On March 1-2, at 12:00, we invite everyone to observe this enrichment activity at the Ungulate Row in the steppe enclosure of the Przewalski’s horses.
