🍉🍉🍉 The season of watermelon weekends continues at Kyiv Zoo!
☝️ Feeding animals with seasonal fruits and vegetables is practiced in all zoos of the world. And this is not just entertainment, but a part of an important professional work – environment enrichment. This is to create conditions close to natural ones for each animal – with different smells, sounds, new objects, interesting toys and a variety of food.
🍁 In September our animals eat up to 1 ton of juicy watermelons. And this is quite liked by zoo inhabitants and delights our visitors. After all at a certain time, they have the opportunity to approach the enclosure and see an interesting part of the complex process of environmental enrichment for animals in the zoo.
🦙🦬🐎🐫 This week, the watermelon weekend will be held at alpacas, American bison, wisents, Przewalski’s horses and camels
