The story of Adam and Julia rescue
🐒🐒 How the lemurs from Kherson, who almost died, got a new home and a cozy family life in Kyiv Zoo 💚🙏
During another racist shelling of Kherson the local zoo was destroyed and Adam the ring-tailed lemur received a contusion, burns and injuries.
Thanks to volunteers from the Wild Animal Rescue Cente the injured lemur was transported to Kyiv. In March 2023 he was transferred to Kyiv Zoo for treatment and rehabilitation.
The animal was on the mend but we saw that the lemur was sad and yearning. And the reason for his longing became clear six months later when Yana, a volunteer, responded to the news about Adam. As it turned out Yana found his beloved girlfriend Julia from Kherson and brought her to Kyiv Zoo.
The joy of the reunited couple knew no bounds. At the same time all the participants of this story were happy – both lemurs and people.
Now the lovebirds got a new big house and an exotic neighbor – an Indian porcupine named Druid who was also rescued earlier.
In addition to the new couple a large family of 19 ring-tailed lemurs lives in Kyiv Zoo. Five of them are offspring obtained this year. Later we will introduce Adam and Julia to our large Lemurian family which they will eventually join.
We hope that Adam and Julia will join their new family in the future and have a cub too.
The couple lives in the winter hall of our Island of Animals – come and meet!
