Season of watermelon weekends at Kyiv zoo continues!
Feeding animals with seasonal fruits and vegetables is practiced in all zoos of the world. And this is not just entertainment but a part of important professional work – environmental enrichment. To create conditions close to natural for each animal – with different smells, sounds, new objects, interesting toys and a variety of food.
In September our animals eat up to 1 ton of juicy watermelons. And the residents of the zoo really like it and delight our visitors After all, at a certain time they have the opportunity to approach the enclosure and see an interesting part of the complex process of environmental enrichment for animals in the zoo.
This week the watermelon weekend will be held for Przewalski’s horses, aurochs and bison
