Pink flamingos are back at their summer lakes
🦩🦩🦩 The largest flock of Kyiv zoo pink flamingos among the zoos of Ukraine has returned to its summer lake grounds.
☝️ In addition to their extraordinary beauty these birds are interesting in their behavior which resembles fiery dances. Among the “signature” movements are stomping in the muddy water with wings flapping as well as simultaneous rhythmic rotations and movements of the neck of the head for the entire flock. Pink flamingos don’t just like mud, they specifically look for it. After all only from it they build real “castles” that serve as their nests.
✅ This year we set up new comfort zones for them with green areas, sandy and clay beaches and also created more than 20 nesting sites. All for the well-being of the birds and the special goal of obtaining offspring.
🏞 So starting today, two dozen of birds are enjoying the spring sun on open lakes, walking along the beach and tasting their favorite bird all-inclusive menu: from minced meat and fish, daphnia crustaceans, hamarus, ground dandelion leaves and lettuce, grain flour and vitamin and mineral additives
💚 Get good emotions while watching one of the most colorful and rare birds of Ukraine – pink flamingos!
