New summer enclosure for spurred tortoises
🙏💚 We continue to create comfortable conditions for our permanent and rescued animals.
🏞️🐢 This time, the largest tortoises of Kyiv Zoo – Uncle Sasha, Matilda and Cheburek, as well as a group of spurred tortoises rescued during the war from the affected territories of our country, got a new home. On a recreated corner of living nature with a total area of 370 sq.m. three green haciendas have been created.
🏖️💦🏜️ For the maximum comfort of the giant African tortoises, shady canopies and umbrellas from the heat and rain have been installed here. And these giant land dwellers like to take sand and water baths. Therefore, pools and sandboxes became a great addition to their comfortable life.
🌺 🌿🍎🥕 Spurred tortoises are herbivores. They feed on grass, hay, vegetables and fruits. And a special delicacy – hibiscus – we grow it ourselves. So we treat our tortoises with these fragrant twigs all year round.
