Large summer enclosure for the family of African grey parrots

We are pleased to present to you a new aviary for the rescued parrots that entered the zoo in 2022. Sick and frightened birds were brought to Kyiv Zoo by police officers. Their gradual rehabilitation took place for almost a year 🦜

For the comfort of the birds there are various accessories, toys, tree branches, feeders, a decorative fountain and a refreshing fog-drop sprayer 💦

✔ A special, carefully selected diet consisting of special granulated feed enriched with all the necessary vitamins and minerals is important for their health. And also – parrots eat fruits, berries and seeds with pleasure 🥜🍇🌾

🪶 These are quite large birds that grow up to 30-35 centimeters and live up to 50 years and sometimes more.

‼ In recent years, the population of African grey parrots has decreased dramatically – unlimited catching of birds from the wild and their trade as well as the destruction of tropical forests, the habitat of African grey parrots have led to a catastrophic decrease in the population of these amazing birds. Currently the species is given the status of “endangered”.

☝️ Our main goal is to rehabilitate birds and teach people that keeping of such birds should be competent and contribute to the protection of the species in the wild.
