With the beginning of summer the breeding season has begun. Therefore, it is extremely important to create the most comfortable conditions for every family – four-legged or feathered.
This year among others one very special family was formed at Kyiv Zoo:
A wild mallard duck which settled in our lake with koi carp gave birth to six chicks. At the same time our vet clinic received 4 orphaned ducklings. And our caring mother warmly took them under her wing. But it was difficult for the mother to cope with 10 as she had to spend the whole day trying to find and collect all the naughty brood and then a miracle happened. The goose of the Cossacks who always liked to walk alone on the territory of the zoo, heard the squeal of ducklings – and this suddenly awakened “parental” feelings in him. So he rushes to help the concerned mother drive the little “besketchers” to the pile. And so he remained in this amazing goose-duck family as a “father”.
The settlement of wild birds in the zoo takes place every year as we have created all the conditions for their safe and comfortable living. And not only for birds. After all the zoo is a place where more than 200 species of various animals live. Each of which has its own needs and “wishes”:
Green islands and picturesque lakes, low bushes and tall trees, water sprinklers and refreshing pools, convenient feeders and special combs, sand dunes and rocky embankments, comfortable hammocks and wooden platforms, hemp vines and many other means for happy animal life.
And of course healthy and tasty food expertly selected according to individual needs and balanced diet for each of our residents
Come to Kyivzoo for a romantic mood and positive emotions!
