Good News in Difficult Times

Our miniature Asian deer – the muntjac Mo, is successfully recovering from a serious injury sustained as a result of the night shelling of Kyiv on November 14. The operation was successful, and now he is steadily improving.

According to the director of Kyiv Zoo, Kyrylo Trantin: “The most critical week is behind us. The postoperative period passed successfully, and with each passing day, confidence grows that Mo will fully recover”.

That night, Kyiv was subjected to a barbaric missile and drone strike. The blast wave also affected part of the territory of KyivZoo, damaging windows and structures. A spurred tortoise and a spectacled caiman received minor injuries – they were immediately provided with assistance.

Mo suffered the most: he suffered a severe head injury with a fractured lower jaw. The chances of survival were only 50/50, but thanks to timely surgery and professional care from veterinarians, this little deer’s life was saved.

Mo is currently undergoing rehabilitation, receiving the necessary medications and procedures, and is on a “special” soft diet: steamed grain mixture, soaked alfalfa pellets, and chopped hay.

We wish our brave ward a speedy recovery!
